Our facility commits to a 100% CO2-neutral energy and hot water supply, relying on "renewable resources" and an advanced heat recovery system. We embrace environmentally friendly ecological construction methods and make extensive use of solar and photovoltaic technologies. The electricity and district heating we require are produced eco-friendly by biogas and wood chips from the E-Werk Prad. From energy-efficient LED and low-energy bulbs to biodegradable cleaning agents – sustainability shapes our daily life. Since 2007, we are proud to be part of the Ecocamping initiative.
However, this does not mean that we rest on our laurels. Driven by the desire to always look for even better solutions, we continuously think about possible improvements in all areas. This attitude drives us to constantly explore new ways to minimize our environmental impact and maximize the efficiency of our resource use.
The energy concept of our campsite was refined by Chef Herbert Wunderer out of personal interest and due to the family tradition in energy innovation. As early as 1900, his grandfather, Alois Wunderer, was a co-founder of the first hydroelectric power plant at Tschrinbach in Prad. Hermann Wunderer, his father, ran the E-Werk as a miller and chairman until the 1970s. Georg Wunderer, his son, shaped the cooperative with his visions and pioneering spirit for a long time. Until his unexpected death on June 1, 2018, he led the E-Werk Prad and transformed the market town of Prad into a community recognized throughout Europe as a model for climate protection.
Today, the family business and the operations of the E-Werk Prad cooperative are continued by our son, Michael Wunderer. With expansion plans for a community project of an energy community, the goal remains to cover the energy needs (electricity and heat) of the local population and our guests as much as possible from 100% renewable sources such as hydropower, solar energy, biomass, and biogas.
For guests with electric cars, we offer a charging station in our parking lot (for a fee). Additionally, you receive the VinschgauCard from us all year round, which allows you to use public transport for free.
