Prato allo Stelvio in the broad valley floor and at the entrance to the Stelvio National Park is a true cycling paradise for Cycling and mountain biking ....... namely in all its facets!

By trekking bike or e-bike it comes Venosta valley gleefully go to the Reschensee, the Haider Lake or along the Via Claudia Augusta, 50 km to Merano.

Launched directly from the campsite in the Vinschgau bike path, this leads between blooming apple orchards and unspoiled villages to Merano, this can also be cultural monuments of Vinschgau explore.

Is is not permitted to take bicycles on the train from Merano until begin of may to end of October. A separate bicycle transportation from the train station of Merano taking the bikes to Spondinig station, but a ticket must be resolved. Your car can be quite comforted in cycling holiday home ..... because from early april to late october provides the bike shuttle service a shuttle service to various destinations throughout the Venosta Valley.

Start with the bike shuttle service Venosta/Merano to the lake of Resia or on the Stelvio top.

Train&Bike - Südtirol Rad, perfectly maintained quality wheels and electric bikes, including bicycle service. Rental bikes can be borrowed and returned at all stations marked "Rad Südtirol".

A handful of three-thousand peaks await bikers. 


Stilfserjoch - Umbrailpass, (2757 m)

With 2.757m above sea level, the Stelvio is (also Stelvio called) the highest mountain pass in Italy and connects Prato with Bormio. The second-highest paved pass in the Alps and impressive insights into the Stelvio National Park (Ortler), the Stelvio Pass is 27 km long, the road was built from 1820 to 1826 by the Austrian Empire with the dreaded 48 numbered bends and has until now hardly changed. After defeating the Stilfser yoke it goes over the Umbrailpass to Santa Maria / Müstair (CH) and through the Munster to Prato. (Do not forget ID card)

Best Tour: July to early October

WINTERCLOSURE
The Stelvio Panoramastraße remains closed from Trafoi every year during the winter months from end of October to end of May.


Spectacular car-free-day at the Stelvio Pass - EVENT STELVIOBIKE - On this popular cycling day, one of the highest alpine passes, the 2760m high Stelvio Pass is to be conquered.

Ofenpass, (2149 m)

The Ofenpass road located on the eastern border of Switzerland. From Prato allo Stelvio the tour starts over Agums to Lichtenberg. Next 70 km tour goes to Taufers and then to Switzerland - Warning limit: valid ID with picture. From Sta. Maria by one drives the Munster after Valchava, Fuldera and Tschierv and follows direction Zernez counter Ofenpass.
Total length: 70 km - journey time: 4 hours - Height and exit difference: 1870m


Drei-Ländergiro

The Dreiländergiro is a very popular tour. From Prato allo Stelvio, the tour starts in the direction of the Stelvio, over the pass on the Swiss side direction Umbrailpass and the Engadine to Martina and the Reschenpass back to Prad back.
