Törggelen in Venosta Valley

Local products, traditional customs...that's what autumn offers 

Did you know that the name of "Törggelen" comes from "torquere" is Latin and means "press"?

The events of the selection Törggele lasts until November, the tradition will be maintained already many centuries combined with excursions in the autumn-colored hills, through chestnut groves and vineyards with the typical wine taverns.

The word derives from the press Törggelen. Originally Törggelen combines the young wine tasting, the "New" simply served with cheese, bacon and bread "Schüttelbrot and roasted chestnuts. Today the practice involves various local culinary specialties sequence, made with sauerkraut, dumplings, meat affumincata, sausages homegrown, barley soup and ravioli to the battle plate with cabbage and dumplings.

The tradition actually comes from the Isarco Valley and Valle d'around Merano and Bolzano.

With roasted chestnuts are served for dessert traditional donuts with apricot, poppy seeds or chestnut stuffing.
